What is the Gospel?

Dear Friend,

The Gospel of Jesus Christ literally means the "good news". Have you ever heard someone say "Jesus loves you"? To be sure that statement is completely true and Jesus has accomplished something amazing to demonstrate His love towards you. But before we talk about what Jesus did for us we have to understand what we have done to ourselves.

The Bible teaches that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). Because of that sin we are assured that we cannot enter into heaven. The Bible teaches that God must punish sin because He is just. Everyone who falls under judgment will not enter heaven but will end up in hell, a place of eternal torment and separation from God (Luke 16:24-25, 2 Thess 1: 5-9). But God desires that no one should perish (2 Peter 3:9).

The Bible teaches that while we were yet sinning, Jesus died on the cross for us, taking our punishment and satisfying the justice of God (Rom 5:8). The Bible also teaches that all who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus shall be saved (Rom 10:13). Jesus said, “behold I stand at the door and knock, If any man hear my voice and open the door I will come in to him and eat with him and he with me” (Rev 3:20). Will you open your heart to Jesus? Here is how you can receive salvation.

1. Admit you are a sinful person in need of salvation.

2. Repent of your sins. Repent means to turn away from your sin and follow Christ.

3. Believe and call upon the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ to be saved.

4. Receive him into your heart as your Lord and Savior.

If you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and desire to follow Him from this day forward. Please let us know about your decision by filling out a “Connect Card” or visiting our church or by emailing Pastor Floyd Harrison: floydharrison316@yahoo.com
